The chief marketing officer of Anheuser-Busch, Benoit Garbe, is stepping down from his role at the end of the year to pursue new opportunities in his career, the company stated to CBS MoneyWatch. His resignation comes amid declining sales of Bud Light, a prominent brand under Anheuser-Busch.
Kyle Norrington, the U.S. Chief Commercial Officer, will take over the responsibilities of U.S. marketing following Mr. Garbe’s departure. Anheuser-Busch’s CEO, Brendan Whitworth, expressed confidence that these changes in leadership will drive the company’s resurgence in the market.
These changes come in the wake of a significant public outcry over a promotional campaign featuring transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. This controversy marks a notable shift in the company’s marketing strategies.
Notably, Bud Light witnessed a substantial decline in sales, ranging from 20% to 30% this year, resulting in its loss of the top-selling beer title in the U.S. after holding the position for over two decades.
